The systems are designed to be quick and easy to use, with drop-down selections, tick boxes and calendars for entering dates. Key information is highlighted in red and validated at entry time to ensure patient information is kept as accurate and complete as possible.

 

 
   Colorectal

PMAS Colorectal is for surgeons specialising in the management of colon and rectal bowel cancer.

Typical data collected for each patient with bowel cancer is:

  • Personal : name, hospital number, NHS number, demographics, date of birth, sex, GP etc
  • Admission : referral dates, hospital, consultant, symptoms, diagnoses, patient history, pre-treatment staging, results of investigations, pre-operative therapy, metastases, discussed by MDT etc
  • Surgery : hospital, surgeon, assistants, surgeon grade, surgical urgency, procedures with dates, tumour details, metastases, stoma performed, anastomotic and sigmoidoscopy heights etc
  • Laparoscopy : all laparoscopic aspects of the procedure as detailed in the ACPGBI minimum dataset version 3.
  • 30 day audit : all surgical complications, return to theatre, number of days in hospital, date discharged or details and date of post-operative death.
  • Pathology : gross description and histology of tumour, measurements to nearest margin, circumferential margin, local invasion, metastatic spread, background abnormalities, pathological staging, presence of polyps etc., and peritoneal reflection and distance to dentate line where appropriate
  • P-Possum : pre-operative and operative values and score
  • CEA : serum CEA levels pre-, peri- and post-operative
  • Follow-up : for each follow-up visit: date, place, current adjuvant therapy, results of investigations, any additional primary plus site, evidence of recurrence, further surgery including stoma closure and patient’s current status or details of death with date. If appropriate, date of next appointment.

PMAS Colorectal includes the standard range of reports and audits as well as:

  • Laparoscopic for a selected date range, find all patients who had laparoscopic surgery with any combination of laparoscopic conditions
  • Cancer Registry for each selected patient, display, print or export the specific colorectal information required for Cancer Registry and government waiting times reporting
  • RCS dataset for each selected patient, display, print or export the RCS minimum dataset
  • ACPGBI datasets for each selected patient, display, print or export the specific colorectal information required by the ACPGBI minimum dataset version 2 and version 3.
