The systems are designed to be quick and easy to use, with drop-down selections, tick boxes and calendars for entering dates. Key information is highlighted in red and validated at entry time to ensure patient information is kept as accurate and complete as possible.

   Pseudomyxoma

PMAS Myxoma was developed for surgeons at the North Hampshire Hospital to manage patients referred with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei. The NHH works closely with NSCAG to provide the best possible health care services for patients with this disease, and needed a system to monitor and report as required.

The basic PMAS data entry model was modified to reflect NSCAG requirements including:

  • Admission: CT scan reviews by surgeons & radiologists, ECOG performance rating, Quality of Life scoring and a way to score the severity of the disease at referral
  • Surgery: hospital, surgeon, all assistants, chemotherapy given, operative complications, completeness of resection and a way to score surgical difficulty
  • 30 day audit: all surgical complications, number of days in hospital, re-admission, details and date of post-operative death
  • Pathology: tumour histology and weight of tumour removed
  • Follow-up: for each follow-up visit: date, evidence of recurrence, readmission, ECOG performance, Quality of Life scoring, details of death with date

PMAS Myxoma includes the standard range of reports and audits as well as several specifically designed for NSCAG:

  • Activity report for a selected date range, analyse the referrals, opinions given and assessments by month, Health region and country of referral
  • Detailed activity for a selected date range, analyse the numbers involved at each stage of patient management
  • Operation audit for a selected date range, give a breakdown by procedure with the length of time of each operation and subsequent stay in hospital
  • Tumour markers for a selected date range, analyse CEA, CA125 & CA199 levels
  • Follow-up for a selected date range, analyse death, recurrence, re-operation and stoma closures
